The Oyster Bay Music Festival joins with members of Grammy award-winning Orpheus Chamber Orchestra in a special concert featuring Wynton Marsalis’ composition, A Fiddler’s Tale, that reinterprets Stravinsky’s classic, A Soldier’s Tale. Marsalis weaves a harrowing story of an aspiring musician who sells her music to the devil – a record company – in an age-old tale of temptation. The jazz-inspired 7-piece chamber orchestra retells the legendary parable once again with narration.

Orpheus Performers: LAURA FRAUTSCHI, violin; DONALD PALMA, double bass; ALAN KAY, clarinet; FRANK MORELLI, bassoon; CARL ALBACH, trumpet; WESTON SPROTT, trombone; and JAVIER DIAZ, percussion will be joined by DANYON DAVIS, narrator, who is currently the Director of the MFA Program and Head of Movement at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.

Gifted young artists from the Oyster Bay Music Festival, will introduce the theme of temptation with a few short works as concert appetizers. Featured OBMF performers will include flutist Matthew Ross, pianist Maxim Lando, and a group of gifted conservatory trained singers. Alumnus Matthew Ross is currently a member of the Grammy Award winning Albany Symphony Orchestra. 10 year OBMF returnee Maxim Lando, is winner of the 2020 Gilmore Young Artist Award and the prestigious Young Artists Competition, and has gained international recognition as a concert pianist.
